In 1990, Arleigh and Heather Fair sold their family home and bought a waterfront penthouse in Vancouver, BC. For four years they walked, biked, drank lattes and thought they were in the center of the universe. It wasn’t. They both had the urge to play in the dirt but neither was ready to admit it to the other. Plants bloom if they get good care--the right light, temperature, water, food and growing medium. But how much and where, depend on the plant. In other words, if you can get one African violet to bloom you’ll be successful with any of them. But if you treat your Christmas cactus the same way, it will probably never flower.
